Darnell: *curls in on himself, shuddering...shakes his head* What the Dalimars did needs to never, NEVER be repeated.

Cipher: /Agreed/. Which is why we stepped in when we heard they were going to take you to try to get details from you of the contraptions you ruined. Especially the soul locks, the machines that allowed Charles and Victor to live so long, and whatever it was that brought the women and girls back to life. These things interest this group greatly and they'll do anything to get the information that want. *a beat* That said, we /are/ watching your family, along with Officer Blackwell and his family to make sure no one targets them... *just... thought Darnell may want to know that.*

Darnell: ..........what about Emma? And Charlotte?

Cipher: We had to relocate them. The group went for them first. Gave them a hell of a scare, but didn't harm them. They're safe.

Darnell: ....... *face in his hands in relief* They've been through so much already. Especially Char.

Cipher: *nods* They're safe. We've moved them into a couple of our safe houses and got them set up with what they need to live good lives for a long time.

Darnell: *small frown* Trapped not knowing where they are, like this place...?

Cipher: *shakes his head* No, not at all. This is a base, a safe house is a normal house in a normal location. They're living in new places, but they do have people around them, and they know where they are.

Darnell: And they know who moved them again and why?

Cipher: *nods* They know. *more than he'd like, but they needed to feel safe where they were. The women were grateful to him and his team, recognizing that the Ghosts had saved them from a possible repeat of what the Dalimars has put them through.*

Darnell: ........... *nods* Will I be allowed to know where they are? *after his last bout with the senior-most Dalimar, he's made a point of keeping up with the remaining two women*

Cipher: *nods* They requested I let you know. 

Darnell: *can't help but /grin/ at that* Thank you. So . . . what now? What happens to me, and what about this cult?

Cipher: Well... you’re a bit of a special case. Normally we’d set you up in a safe house. It’s... essentially a fresh start. You cut ties and disappear. Think witness protection program. Except you... really can’t. I mean... you /could/, technically, but I’ve got a feeling you’d much rather return to your job, hm? Anyway, since we can’t just make you disappear, I’m afraid you’re going to be stuck with us for a while, at least until we can get a better handle on this group and either stamp out their threat entirely, or break it down enough that the remnants scatter to the wind. How long that will take...I can’t say for sure...

Darnell: Oh . . . yup. Thank you *gets up to follow - had figured Cipher (much as his codename implies) would just send an encrypted and anonymous text, but that'd be even better*

Cipher: *he would, but is kind of hoping Blackwell will be willing to help as well by providing intell and resources the Ghosts don’t have to spend precious time stealing, he figures the best way to do that is to leave Thomas with absolutely no doubt that Darnell is alive, well (or as well as he can be after being tortured for three hours), and actively working with him and his team. He... might even give Thomas his face as an added bargaining chip is need be, but he’ll see what’s necessary. He leads Darnell back into the tech room. A rather short man Darnell didn’t see before glances over as they come in. He’s still coated in paint and in the dark blue clothing. Cipher gives him a small wave and heads for a different console, where he’ll expertly put a secure video feed into place before getting up and motioning Darnell to sit. He’ll move out of the camera’s view before putting through the call to Thomas.*

Darnell: *can't help /gaping/ as he looks around the room, taking it all in. He takes in the sight of the other Ghost, staring a bit but will also offer a small wave if the man looks at him. The set-up here has a camera, but the phone number is for Thomas's cell. It rings and rings and winds up going to voicemail (Thomas looks at his phone but the number is blocked so he figures whatever telemarketer or prank caller is phoning him at this ungodly hour can leave a damned message)* Blackwell, it's Barrett. By the time you get this, you may or may not have been informed of the break-in at my flat. I was taken but I've since escaped, and those immediately involved are no longer a threat, but . . . there's a group of people trying to recreate Charles and Alister's worst accomplishments. From what I understand, Emma and Charlotte have already been found and relocated to safety. Keep an eye on yourself and your family. They could go after you to try to get me to reveal what I know, since...ah...other methods already haven't worked. I'll try to contact you again at a more reasonable hour. Oh, and Thomas . . . that thrift shop is still dusty as ever. Anyway, talk to you later. Barrett out. *will hang up the call*

Cipher: *nods when Darnell hangs up* We’ll call him later. For now, you should get some sleep if you think you can.

Cipher: *softly* Radar. *amused little smile as he says it, hey, Darnell’s bound to hear it eventually anyway...*

Put the recliner back as far as it'd go, tried to sleep but too mentally restless.

Cipher: *leads Darnell back to the room and gives his shoulder a gentle squeeze.* Rest well. *He’ll continue on down the hall if Darnell doesn’t seem to need anythinf else.*

Darnell: *covers that hand with his* You too, Cipher. *will go hit the bathroom really quickly, then go dump himself onto a bed and pass out…though he'll only stay asleep for as long as whatever painkillers on and in him will allow*

*He’ll get at least a few hours of sleep before he’s waking up from pain. When he manages to get himself up he’ll find another Ghost in the kitchen area. He’s nearly as tall as Cipher, though narrower in the shoulders and with a stronger chin. He’s clean of paint and has darker skin, though still light enough there are those who would not instantly realize his African heritage. His hair is kept very short, almost just a thin fuzz over his scalp, and he’s got a short goatee. His eyes are dark brown and he’s instantly reading Darnell like an open book. He stands, pulling out a chair*
Shadow: Sit, Detective. *Darnell will recognize his voice as the one who helped hold him up while Cipher untied him*

Darnell: *startle a bit, uncertain at the sight of the other man, but relaxes at the voice* Mr. Shadow. *steps up to offer his hand* Thank you so much for your help last night.

Shadow: *smiles and accepts Darnell’s hand* You’re certainly welcome. Sit. I’ll get something to ease your pain, and then some breakfast.

Darnell: *sits - his legs are wobbly* I don't want to be any more trouble than I have been… Let me at least fix breakfast? I can cook for several, and…I'm fairly decent in the kitchen. It's the least I can do.

Shadow: *gentle hand on Darnell’s shoulder* Onc you’ve healed some, we will gladly take you up on your offer to cook a meal for us. For now, you focus on getting your strength back.

Shadow: *gives him a smile and will slip out of the kitchen to go get pain medication for Datnell. It’s strong stuff without being something addictive. It’s the kind of stuff that a prescription bottle would say not to have woth alcohol and not to drive, but may or may not actually hamper someone’s ability to function normally. He sets the decent sized white pill on the table before Darnell and will turn to pour him a mug of coffee* How fo you take yiur coffee?

Darnell: Thanks. Light and sweet, please. *studying the man*
