Amin: *nods* I am. 

Darnell: .......... *glancing between him and Mitham* As I said, we don't want any trouble...

Terris: Then you have found none, friend. I've just come back with rabbits for dinner. You are welcome to join us.

Darnell: ............. *looks at Kadal and Ezrim - he's so far out of his element right now, it's painful...*

Kadal: ...*he gives Darnell a small nod.*

Darnell: ........... My name is Darnell. This is Kadal, and this is Ezrim. None of us are out to hurt anyone. We just want to be allowed to live and be free, no one's property.

Terris: *smiles* A pleasure to meet you all. You are certainly welcome to stay or go as you wish. I live out here to be free to live as I wish. Mitham has joined me recently. Will you join us for dinner, friends?

Darnell: ......... *looks at the others - he's willing if they are, but he won't if they aren't*

Kadal: *looks down at Ezrim....and nods* Thank you. We've been traveling for days now, it will be nice to have someplace to rest a while at least.

Darnell: ...... *nodnod*

Ezrim: *uncertain, but smiles*

Mitham: *smiles and will shift a bit to make sure there's room for ll of them to sit around the fire...it's small, but evening is setting in and so it's cooling off.*

Terris: *will move into the cave with a handful of rabbits just picked up from snares.*

Terris: *smiles* Certainly. *as Darnell steps over he’s already skinning the first rabbit. He’s quite quick at it.* I’ve a number of herbs and spices there. *he nods to a cabinet full of small drawers.* If you’re familiar with cooking you’re welcome to explore, or I can direct you to what I usually use.

Darnell: *can't help grimacing a bit at the sight - poor rabbits... - and turns to the cabinet* I'm familiar with cooking, but I don't know how familiar I am with the herbs and spices of this...land. *almost said 'world' - will start poking into the drawers* Also, I have to admit I've never had rabbit before, so I'm not sure what would go best with the meat.

Terris: *in that case...* Well, you can go to the drawer, second row, fifth one from the left. That's... *and he'll proceed to guide Darnell to several drawers, telling him about the spice or herb. What it is, what kind of flavor it lends to food, how to find/get it out here. It'll be a bit of a lesson instead of just a "get that and apply to meat". He'll definitely tell how much of what to mix and add to the meat, but he's also /teaching/.*

Darnell: *and out comes the journal! He'll follow Terris's directions but is also taking notes*

Terris: *smiling as he teaches, and that Darnell is taking notes. They'll get the meat all ready and will get it over the fire to cook* You pick up details rather quickly, don't you?

Darnell: *grins and nods* It's... *"my job"...but he can't say that, can he?* ...in my nature. *glances down at his satchel*

Terris: Is that yours? Mitham said it had belonged to another.
Mitham: Yeah, he's the guy I told you about.
Terris: I see. I'm glad you have regained your freedom.

Darnell: Yup, thanks to him. I'm Darnell, by the way. This is Kadal and Ezrim.

Waiting for directions from Tawnua bc Maps thinks I'm swimming or sunken off the sgore from Carlsbad, and Waze can't seem to find me at all. >,<))

Terris: I'm glad you're both free. *smiles at Ezrim* And that you have found good people to be with. *has settled to cut up a few vegetables to join the rabbit meat.* May I ask where you came from, Darnell?

Darnell: ...a long, /long/ way from here. Nowhere you've heard of, trust me.

Terris: I have traveled far and wide, though... no, I doubt I would have been to where you came from. Forgive me, I was a bit of a snoop and went through your satchel not long after Mitham joined me. *Darnell's journal from his last case, just wrapped up, was in there... this one had been concerning well...zombies, kind of, a man was try to raise the dead, but was only really succeeding in drugging people to make them zombie-like. Still, there are definitely notes and sketches in that journal that contain things that, so far as Darnell's seen, are /not/ of this world...* You are a detective...?

Darnell: *wry grin* You had no reason not to. The owner was long gone. *nods and pauses to dig out his badge* Special Agent Darnell Barrett, Master Detective. *not arrogant, but definitely proud of this*

((Mn, not what I was trying to say, does this read okay, "Still, there are definitely notes and sketches in that journal that contain things that Darnell will be pretty sure are /not/ of this world..." I'm trying to imply that Darnell /knows/ what's in there, and.../knows/ the Terris has to realize Darnell isn't from Reirinsei.))

Terris: *smiles* A pleasure. May I ask again where you're from? *now that he's established that he's already guessed Darnell isn't from this world?*

(("pretty sure do /not/ exist in this world"? - I think what's throwing me is which way, to whom, the comment seems to reflect, at least in my mind. Can't even tell you why. 9,9,))

Darnell: In my language, which thankfully is the one spoken here, we call my world Earth. The country I'm from is the United States of America, but most of my work is in Great Britain on loan to the Queen of England.

Terris: Will you tell us a bit about your world? *asked as he gets theses veggies cooking now*

Darnell: Sure. *will tell Terris and Mitham some of the stuff he's been telling Kadal and Ezrim*

*Mitham proves to be the curious type, asking all kinds of questions. He may actually remind Darnell of himself, curious and digging for answers, asking smart questions that take time to answer fully and correctly. Terris seems to encourage this, asking his own questions of course, but letting Mitham express his curiosity. Kadal and Ezrim will keep asking questions as well. They’ll eat, though they’ll keep chatting as they do and will talk until late. Terris will get a place arranged for Kadal and Darnell to sleep, and Mitham will coax Ezrim into joining him. Terris will end up sitting with the two boys... and singing a lullaby that is just precious and encouraging. After that Terris will tuck the kids in and will check to see if Darnell or Kadal need anything else before he too settles.*

Darnell: *excited to talk about his world, and thrilled to talk to such intelligent and inquisitive people . . . it'll take him a bit to wind back down from all that . . . and he'll wind up at the mouth of the cave or just outside, sitting gazing at the stars*

Terris: *steps out, resting a hand on Darnell's shoulder* ...I know someone who may be able to get you home...

Darnell: *flinches softly at the hand, looks up...breath catches* ...really?

Terris: *nods* I don’t know if she’ll come, or if she’ll agree to help, but if anyone can get you home it’ll be her. Sirrah is a world traveler, she’s been to many worlds, and is from another world from this one.

Darnell: ...*nods* How do I contact her?

Darnell: *the knot in his stomach is getting tighter and tighter . . . well, he can't help the people of this town, but he can stop it from spreading. Time to find the source, there's /always/ a source...*
*If he's going to survive to find a source, he'll need to hole up inside somewhere... else he's likely to join the townsfolk and the other agents who were sent before him. But, come morning, the monsters have thinned out and Darnell will be able to slip out into the town to search again. He'll be able to raid a store or house for food, and any bathroom will work, though he'll find the toilets only flush once and won't refill with water. He'll...also be pretty sure he finds the source of what happened here, but he can't /get/ to it. It's /surrounded/ by monsters...well... the warehouse has several big humanoid like beasts patrolling around. They don't seem to have eyes, but they have big, clawed hands, and certainly stand taller than a man.*
Darnell: ............. *tried a while and did finally have to hole up somewhere, getting fitful sleep as he could. Once he finds the source - at least, apparent source - he's working on how to get into it, how to distract or draw away the beasts . . . if need be, he'll withdraw and try to find the town's city hall. Maybe he can find maps or blueprints, maybe there's a secret tunnel or sewer that'll take him under the building...*
*He'll...definitely have to withdraw. One of the beasts notices him. It's head splits open like a flower full of teeth. While the creature seems to have no eyes to see, it certainly seems to know where he is and will prove much smarter than the thing that chased him upon his arrival. It'll take some crafty thinking on the detective's part to lose the thing. He'll... find no help in the town's city hall, either. The warehouse has a few drains that lead the the sewers, but nothing big enough for a man to fit through. He'll have to find some way to get rid of those monsters...*

Darnell: HOLY SMOKES! What the blazes is that!? *even as he's fleeing the monster - he's seen and done a lot in his career, but being hunted isn't one of them, not like this! Still, his training, his quick wits, and his ability to improvise all serve him well, and he manages to lose the thing. But then all his research turns up nothing. Now what's he do? All he can think of is go back and observe the creatures, tey to learn more about them*

*It's been three days since anyone has heard from Darnell, and attempts to reach him end with the calls not going through. Thomas finally gets permission to reach out to America... and the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense. They're the other big player when it comes to "dealing" with paranormal sorts of things, though even MCF doesn't know too much about the BPRD. Still, it's their only hope of getting back their Master Detective. And so it is that Hellboy is headed off for Ireland.*
Liz: So the reports say the town's empty and anyone who goes in isn't heard from again. *she'll not be staying, she's just on the chopper that's bringing Hellboy to just outside the town. She looks out the window.* Looks pretty normal from up here, except, you know, the lack of people.

Hellboy: *sticks his head out and wrinkles his nose* I'll be surprised if this special detective's still alive. I'm smelling too much blood, even from here. *sighs* Should've sent the big guns in from the start. Why didn't we hear about this place sooner?

Liz: Don't know, maybe someone thought this special detective could deal with things. He's the one that stopped the release of The Ice Lady few years back. *assuming Red read the report on that one...* But you're probably right, he got in over his head this time.
*The helicopter is moving to get low enough for Hellboy to hop out. Looks like they're coming down where Darnell parked, as his car is below them. And yeah, from the air, the town looks normal, if completely still and empty, but Hellboy can sense something else off about it.*
