Darnell: *afraid she won't be able to, but.../hoping/ she will, because aside from burn the room out, he doesn't know what to do*

Rei: You can't. Energy cannot be destroyed, simply made into a different state. I would take this with me, where it can be shielded properly and never used. First, though, we need to free it from the shields it now sits behind.

Darnell: There's no way to make that stone into a different state? And all right...what do we need to do to free it? Even a light touch to one of these lines will do incredible damage.

Rei: To do so would draw demons. *she looks back into the room* I...do not know. You mentioned burning such things before...?

Darnell: *winces* Right. Don't want that. *shudders, then looks into the room with her* We scoured the ritual room, torture chamber, and cellar where his body disappeared - first with fire and then with soap, water, and scrub brushes. Honestly, I have no idea what the effects were, though it /seemed/ like it helped. This, though? *rubs the back of his neck, staring at the blood-stained carvings in the floor* Wouldn't hurt to try. *he HOPED it wouldn't hurt to try...*

Mitham: What about your necklace? If the raven wanted it maybe this is the reason...?
Rei: ? *she turns to Darnell.* Necklace?

Darnell: Hm? I figured it just wanted off /me/ so it could get at me better. *pulls it out from under his shirt to show Rei* This was given to me a few years ago now by Princess Fortuona of ((Kingdom)). It has a protection spell built into it. When the raven attacked last night, it managed to get this off me.

Mitham: It came after that specifically.
Rei: *accepts the pendant.* This is... powerful magic. It is not of the elements, but is also dostinctly differnt than whatbI feel in there. It may ne worth a try.

((He didn't actually take the necklace off, just pulled it out into view, though she's welcome to touch the pendant.))

Darnell: *thoughtful frown...and shifts back, slipping the chain up over his head, gripping the stone in his hand* Let me. If this goes wrong, you are far more important and needed than I am. And...if it does, take him with you. *nods at Mitham*

Rei: *nods and steps back*
Mitham: What?! Wait, Darnell— *cuts off, knows he canmt really argue...*
Emon: *frowning, he doesn’t like this, but also can’t protest.*
Elhokar: Perhaps I should, sir...? Unless the pendant will only work for you...?

Darnell: Honestly? I have no idea how it works or if it's attuned specifically to me. *pulls a deep breath...and shoos everyone out of the room, closing the door behind them - if he gets turned inside out or something, he doesn't want anyone subjected to the gruesome spectacle, and if there's some kind of violent reaction...the door may not provide /much/ protection, but it should offer /some/*

*The room is dark but for a faint red glow from the lines of blood dried into the canals carved into the floor...and after a moment his pendant starts to glow with a soft white light.*

Darnell: *studies the design, studies his necklace...slowly approaches, watching both closely for changes*

*They’ll both brighten, and a white-ish mist will start to pour from the pendant. And...something seems to be forming in the air above the shiomai. It’s dark and hard to make out.*

Darnell: *mutters under breath at the mist* Thaaaat can't be good. *will crouch just outside of the closest edge of the design and gently swing the pendant above the lines into the design without touching anything*

*There’s a hiss and a pop and he’ll see the red glow part around his pendant.*
Brogan: *voice ephemeral.* You are certainly a /pest/, detective.

Darnell: *eyes widen at the effect, can't help /flinching/ at the voice, looking around for the source...swallows to make sure his voice is steady* Funny, I'd say the same of you, demon.

Brogan: *he's the...darkness forming over the shiomai* *he chuckles* You're in my element now, Detective. I'll leave you screaming in sweet agony before I let you die.

Darnell: ...not if I destroy you first. *wishes his voice sounded stronger, but at least it's steady? He looks around and cautiously swings the pendant into the glow above the grooves again*

Brogan: You'll never manage. *it's a snarl*
*it pops and hisses again and... the "hole" in the red light seems large. The white mist from the pendant seems to be flowing into the circle when he does that too.*

Darnell: ........ *"oh, I think I'll find a way" but he doesn't say it aloud, just concentrates on the white mist...will lower his hand to cautiously and VERY briefly tap the nearest line with the pendant, /braced/ to throw himself backwards away from any reaction*
