Every organization is made up of people, and unless you're a mind-reader, you can't 100% tell what every indivdual person is or isn't going to do, or when. One judgment call that gets disproven doesn't mean you didn't do your job to the best of your ability, it just means you're dealing with people who have minds of their own. That makes them ultimately unpredictable no matter how much intel you have on them. If anything, we have an advantage now. I know about this cult a week sooner than I might have, they're down three members, and now they're even less likely to get what they want, or to continue for much longer at all.
