Darnell: *has a stool in the kitchen (he's short for a man, okay?) that he pulls out for Cody to stand on at the counter and will give Cody stuff to do as he teaches Cody how to make french toast*

Cody: *is all grins now as he helps drip bread in the egg mixture and hands the pieces to Darnell to cook.* Smells so yummy!

Darnell: *it's SO good to see that grin* Wait till you taste it. *will get everything going, then have Cody help him set the table*

Cody: *eager to help Darnell, eager to focus on the happy moments like now.*

Darnell: *eager to give him that! The poor boy deserves it*

Cody: *when breakfast is ready, he'll settle at the table to eat, smiling at Darnell between bites* We made good french toast.

Darnell: We really did! I'm glad you like it. Have you had it before?

Cody: *nodnods* Once. ....Yours are better....

Darnell: *grin turns sheepish* Thank you. I appreciate that. *then turns slightly mischievous and he reaches across the table to softly chuck the boy's arm* Though I'll bet it's because you helped.

Cody: *shy little smile* You think so?

Darnell: I wouldn't rule it out. Everything's better when it's homemade, and even more when it's made in love, together with others.

Cody: *goes quiet, lips pressed together in thought as he looks at his plate...* .......You love me?
