Warik: Dox says Amory just stopped by, they've stepping into the hall to talk, so I've asked him to pass that on to Amory.

Darnell: All right, good. *pulls a breath* Does the name DuPrae mean anything to you?

Warik: *grimaces* Shit, really? Did he say which one or why?

Darnell: *shakes his head* Whichever one would see Lady Alvierda as business or political competition. Apparently, he's sent henchmen to take out a number of people . . . and a few people at random to throw off any trail. Lady Alvierda was this guy's last assigned targer. When I asked him about that, that he'd already murdered several people, his response was that when a DuPrae tells you to do something, you don't /not/ do it.

Warik: *he nods at the very last, but then is shaking his head with a frown* I... the DuPrae families are /huge/, Darnell. None of them would see Vashti as a challenge to them or their power.

Darnell: *shrugs* I don't know, either someone /does/ for whatever reason, our would-be assassin was given bad information, or he's a very good liar. He gave me no tells that indicated I shouldn't believe him.

Warik: Or maybe she was one of the random ones, someone completely unrelated to throw off authorities...

Darnell: *nods* Could be. *that's not the impression he'd gotten, but it could be a point on which he'd read in more than was there*

Warik: *shakes his head* Vashti will find out tomorrow...

Darnell: ..........with spirit?

Warik: *nods* 

Darnell: I've heard that spirit wielders can . . . affect someone's mind...?

Warik: *nods* When wielding on someone, even just to heal, the Spirit wielder will be able to hear the person's thoughts, but they can also get into someone's head and find information, and...they can make changes too.

Darnell: *frowns* Changes?

Warik: Plant memories, change them, erase them... it takes some /serious/ precision for a Spirit wielder to do that, though... lots of practice...

Darnell: *frown deepens* And . . . Lady Vashti's had that kind of practice? Is that why you mentioned it?

Warik: Yeah. She hates doing it, but she will with him.

Darnell: If she hates doing it, why does she have so much practice at it? *still thinking she has the ability from an Inriomai somewhere.*

Warik: ...She wasn't given much choice...

Darnell: *okay, the frown turns to one of confusion* Oh?

Warik: *....soft sigh* I’m sorry, Darnell, that’s not my story to tell. I think she’d tell you, if you asked, but that’s not my place to stay.  *looks at him* And I say that as her /friend/, not her slave.
