Ilmari: *returns* Darnell? Talim? Are you both all right? *concerned as he steps up to them*

Darnell: *nods* Yup, sorry. Talim just has some things he needs to work through now that he's free. *looks at Ilmari* Find anything?

Ilmari: I did. Whenever you're ready.

Darnell: *glances at Talim, nods and will move to follow the wolf*

Talim: *pulls himself back together and will get up to follow*

Ilmari: *it's about a ten minute walk for the wolf to bring them to a fruit tree. Darnell's never seen these fruits before. They're about the size of a plum, but rather pink in color and a slightly pointed end like an upside down teardrop.*

Darnell: ...........interesting. I'm not familiar with these. Do you know if it's safe to eat the skins or should we peel them first?

Ilmari: I've seen them eaten whole.

Darnell: *nods* Even pits? One big seed in the center? *some are poisonous if broken open, so he wants to make sure...if only to tell Talim, since he'd know himself not to eat it*

Ilmari: I have not noticed these to have those. They are a grey color inside with many small black seeds.

Darnell: All right. Thanks. *will start picking several, handing some to Talim*

Talim: *will accept them, looking between them and Darnell. He... has no idea what these are, but he’s guessing food, but...is it okay to just eat one, or...?*

*They’ll be walking a long time when Ilmari warns they’re approaching the road. Not long later they’ll hear voices.*
Talim: *whispers* Th-that sounds like Helaren. *the voice is begging to be released, please don’t send him back to master! Talim looks at Darnell, what di they do?*

Darnell: *gasps and darts ahead, stopping where he won't be seen but can see what's going on*

Ilmari: *commands Talim to stay back and will go up by Darnell.*
*There’s a small slaver caravan on the road, and Darnell will indeed see Helaren and Fornel.*

Darnell: *thinking fast* Talim, what-? *looks at Ilmari* Where's Talim?

Ilmari: I told him to stat back where he will be safe.

Darnell: *nods and rushes back* Talim, tell me again the name of your former master.

Talim: *jumps!* A-ah. D-DuPrey. Brogan DuPrey I-I thibk.

Darnell: DuPrey. Brogan DuPrey. Got it. Thanks. *dashes back to Ilmari* Ilmari, how well known is the name Brogan DuPrey? *obviously has a plan in mind*

Ilmari: ...considering I’ve heard of him, I’d say very. The DuPrey family as a whole is powerful, even feared.

Darnell: Okay, good. Those two were with Talim when I met him. We didn't exactly part on the best of terms, but I can't let them be taken back to that monster. *pulls a deep breath, squares his shoulders, and stalks purposefully out into view* There you are! Thank you, gentlemen. You've found my runaways.

Slaver: *jumps, spinning and nearly drawing a sword.* Your runaways, sir?
Helaren: *goes pale.* N-no. Please. *comes out a terrified whisper.*
Fornel: *eyes go wide and he drops hos gaze to the ground.*

Darnell: Well, not mine directly. Brogan DuPrey's. I'm here on his behalf. Hand them over, plus anything you've confiscated from them. It's all stolen property.

Slaver: *hesitates, but nods.* I’d not steal from a man, I intended to take them back to him. *will motion one of his people to move the bound slaves to Darnell.*

Darnell: I'll make sure he knows you cooperated. *is consciously making himself hard and distant, employing tactics he's learned to interrogate suspects…even though it's all very unnatural to him*

*Helaren and Fornel are shaking as they’re dragged over. They’re glancing around for Talim, wondering if he was killed...*
Slaver: Sir, might I ask if you’re well? Did you run afoul of a bear? *motions to indicate the clawmarks on Darnell’s chest, the blood is dried so the man does ‘t sound /too/ concerned, ut still, there a predator nearby they should be wary of?*

Darnell: *looks down* I did, but it's no longer a threat. I'm fine, thank you. *gives the two j'har a cursory glance, seeing if they're much injured, how they're tied, will they be able to walk…*

*Hands are bound behind thrm nearly to their elbows and a noose is around their necks like a leash. Those leashes are handed to Darnell along with the camping gear. They hadn’t really had a chance to go through it yet...*

Darnell: *will take the leashes and the bundled gear, gives the slavers a nod, then turns to head back into the trees* Let's go. *the men may or may not note that he doesn't give the "leashes" a tug or anything, though he /does/ expect them to follow him*

*The slavers and slaves don’t even notice. The slavers continue on down the road and the j’har men follow Darnell, clearly terrified.*

Darnell: *won't say anything to them, just leads them back to Ilmari and then to Talim*

Talim: *nervous as hell, but won’t ask, he can’t make himslef ask, what Darnell will do with them.*
Ilmari: *studies the two new men, and will wait for Darnell to indicate he is ready to go.*

Darnell: *looks between Talim and the other two, then focuses on them for a moment - the hurt and betrayal are clear in his eyes, but there's no real anger or anything* Not. All. Humans. *looks at Talim and Ilmari* C'mon. Shouldn’t be too much farther. *will start walking again, heading in the original direction*

Talim: *moves up by Darnell, glancing at the other two. Softly.* What...what will you do with them? *okay, so now he cane make himswlf adk...*

Darnell: Nothing. Just make sure they make it safely to the settlement. They've already proven they don't trust and won't listen to me, so I'll take them to people they will. There's no point in me trying to assure them like I have you that they'll be all right now. *not speaking softly, wants them to hear it* I'm not untying them till we get there because I don't want to risk another murder attempt.
