*Hellboy has been poking around the town for about an hour. He's been attacked a few more times, but this time he'll spot something he likely wasn't expecting to see. A human! The man is in a trench coat, has a hat, and is carrying a satchel. The man is sneaking along (heading back to Casey’s bunker to rest a bit and eat some lunch, she should be making her way back there too). Darnell will spot Hellboy about the same moment Hellboy spots him.*

Darnell: *spots some kind of hammer-fisted demon, /yelps/, and bolts! He's careful at least to take a different direction than back to the bunker - no call leading enemies there. He'll lose the creature, then make his way back later.*Hellboy: Hey! HEY! Get back here, I'm on your side! *takes off after him* Agent Barrett! *guessing...hoping...*

*Darnell's flight will take him right into the path of another monster, a Jeff. It'll turn to attack...there's no way out! This monster ahead and the red demon behind!!*

Darnell: Ah! *Blast it! M-maybe he can get them to attack each oth-...and then his name registers and he can't help but gape at the red demon behind him for a split second*

Hellboy: Detective, GET DOWN! *as he levels the Samaritan*

Darnell: *gasps and throws himself to the ground*

*Hellboy’s shot takes the Jeff in the head. It’s a Hollywood myth that bodies fly back when shot, but the body does jerk in the air and its limp form will land on Darnell, effectively pinning him. At least he can guess the big, red demon is...a... friend? The red demon knows his name at least, and was... respectful?... enough to call him “Agent”?*

Casey: *will move to go with them, eyeing Hellboy.* You think you could kill the Piranha Plants like you did that Jeff? *she can’t help the mild ornery sense of curiousity she feels at calling the monsters by the names she gave them, she kinda wants to see this guy’s reaction since Darnell got the names as part of an explanation of what they were and why she called them what she called them.*

Hellboy: *looks down at her with a quirk of an eyebrow* You know something you haven't let on? *she knows what those things are?*
Darnell: *small grin but will let her answer, keeping his focus out ahead of them*

Casey: Not really. Had to call them something. Jeff worked well enough.

Hellboy: Hmn. *nods* And the Piranha Plants?
Darnell: The intelligent guards around the warehouse. They look like faceless humans until their whole head unfolds out into this...demonic fleshy...flower thing.
Hellboy: Well, that sounds attractive.
Darnell: They're even better in person.
Hellboy: I'll bet.

Casey: *little smile, kind of likes this guy.* So you came here to... what? Rescue Darnell?

Hellboy: At the least, find and extract the queen's Master Detective, yeah. Or his body. And figure out what the hell's going on around here and stop it. Officially, I'm a paranormal investigator.
Darnell: *quirks a grin* I guess you could say I am too, when a case calls for it.
Hellboy: *smirks* /All/ my cases call for it. Usually, when I'm sent into a situation . . . let's put it this way, detective. If she's a pea-shooter and you're a sniper rifle, I'm the BFG anti-tank artillery.
Darnell: ...... *looks him up and down, and nods* I believe it.

Casey: *snerksnorts.* Pea-shooter?! *mock offened.* I’ll have you know I was doing just fine before you two showed up. *well, she survived and was surviving, though how “well” she actually was is questionable. She puts on a good front, though.*

Hellboy: *laughs, softly bumping the back of her shoulder with his stone hand* Easy, tiger. BB gun, then. Those can do some damage, especially with the right accessories. *looks at her* That /is/ pretty impressive, though. Who taught you the trick with the shovel? *he has to admit, that's pretty ingenious*

Casey: *that earns him a grin.* My dad. He was one of those “zombie apocalypse prepers” before he passed from cancer last year. Taught me a lot. ...Always thought it silly, but I loved spending time with him... really glad I did.

Hellboy: *nods* Me too. The reasoning may be silly - except, with my job, I know it's not - but the survival skills are something everyone should learn.
Darnell: Too bad more people here didn't. Anyway, the warehouse is just up ahead another block or so.

Casey: *will go quiet as she leads them along. Only to /gasp/ when a petel-headed monster lunger out into the street and takes a swipe at her. She manages to get the shovel up, which slices it’s hand, but the strike also sends her weapon flying from her hands.*

Darnell: Casey! *grabs and yanks her back, pulling her behind him*
Hellboy: *steps in to engage* Pick on someone your own size! *as he takes a swing at it with his stone hand*

Monster: *it’s face splits open in a roar, and it doesn’t stand around for a punch. It ducks the fist and takes a swipe at Hellboy with long, clawed fingers.*
Casey: *stumbles back, gaping for a moment before looking around for her shovel. Unless Darnell stops her she’ll try to dart over to pick it up.*

Darnell: *doesn't try to stop her, just moves with her*
Hellboy: *twists away from the swipe, the claws catching his trench coat* Hey, ugly, watch the threads! *realizes this is one of the "intelligent" ones and shifts his attacks a bit, anticipating more skilled attacks and feints*

Monster: *does seem to be testing him, trying, teasing, never quite committing to an attack unless it’s sure. Turns out to be smarter than he might have expected, because this one is just keeping Hellboy busy while another petel head comes up behind Datnell and Casey.*
Casey: *spots it first and /shoves/ at Darnell to move.* Trap!

Darnell: *yips, grabbing Casey and /ducking/ the second petal-head* Hellboy, we gotta move!
Hellboy: On it! *okay, time to get serious! He goes full offensive, shifting to take out the other petal-head too*

Casey: *sorry Red, she’s not waiting for you. She’s going to grip Darnell’s hand and run, trying to lose te petel-head after her and Darnell.*
*Helboy will be held up a moment, but he’ll manage to kill the monster attacking him so he can race after the other monster now chasing down Darnell and Casey.*

Darnell: *YEEAAHHhhhhh he's not waiting either! He'd /had/ a weapon of sorts, but he lost it getting away from another Jeff shortly before they ran into Hellboy, so he's feeling especially defenseless, keeping an arm around Casey to shield her as best he can as they flee*
Hellboy: *gets the first petal-head down and takes off after the others*

*The monster after the humans realizes it is now being chased. It turns and in a quick motion, not skipping a beat, leaps at Hellboy, giant mouth wide open. It’s just going to try to bite his head off, assuming Hellboy will just hold still for it.*

Hellboy: *nope! He's never been a 'play nice' kind of guy. The monster will wind up with a petal-maw full of stone fist as he pulls his gun and blows the thing's chest open*

*what a mess that’ll make, but it’s over quickly*
Casey: *slows to a stop* ...Okay... unless you’re gonna go blast /all/ of them, I say we /sneak/ up this time. *they’d been talking upon approach before. She’d let her guard diwn with the big, friedly demon there to fight for them.*

Hellboy: *holstering his gun and shaking off the ichor from his stone fist* I got a lotta bullets, but not /that/ many.
Darnell: *tense* I say we double back a bit and approach from another direction. Before others come to investigate that loud noise.
Hellboy: *frowns and nods* Probably a good idea.
Darnell: *will hook an arm around Casey (unless she resists), and will head them off in a lateral direction*

Casey: *nods and will move off with them. As they come back around she’ll start to sneak ahead. She’s been scout with Darnell too. She’s smaller, and so able to sneak in close by ways the guys can’t, and able to come back to either steer them off another way, or motion them on.*
*Finally they’ll come up as close as Casey and Darnell have been able to get to the warehouse. The “Piranha Plants” are milling about, clearly guarding the place. There’s at least a good dozen outside the place.*

Darnell: */breath/ of a whisper* Haven't managed to get past this point. I've been watching for weaknesses, or changes in patterns, or anything, but there's nothing.
Hellboy: If I make a ruckus at the front door, do you think you'd manage?

Casey: Maybe we can, but what if there are more inside?
